
Bombers win in shootout

Dayton, OH - The Dayton Bombers began a four-game stretch with the Johnstown Chiefs with a shootout win Saturday night in Johnstown.
The first period would remain scoreless until the 18:09 mark, when it was Johnstown's Brady Greco to break the scoring seal, assisted by Brandon Elliot and Tyler Kindle. That would be the lone goal in the period. Shots on goal favored Dayton however, 13-11.
In the second period, Johnstown would beef up their shooting, yet it was the solid goaltending of MIKE AYERS that would keep it a one goal game until the 16:51 mark. JEFF SZWEZ found the back of the net to tie the score at one apiece, off assists by SCOTT CAMERON and MARCO CAPRARA. The period would end in a tie. Shots on goal after forty minutes totaled 32-26 for Johnstown.
The game would really take off in the third period, as Johnstown's Joe Tallari scored just :36 seconds into the period. The Bombers would fire right back however, as DOMINIC NOEL tied the game once again less than five minutes later, assisted by A.J. MACLEAN and TYSON TEPLITSKY. The game would not stayed tied for long, as Johnstown's Adam Henrich would score just:48 later, to once again go ahead by one goal. It was not to be however, as it was JAY LATULIPPE picking off a pass in the neutral zone and scoring an unassisted goal at the 10:33 mark to tie the game for the final time in the period. At the end of regulation, it was the Dayton Bombers and the Johnstwon Chiefs tied at 3. Shots on goal totaled 41-32 for Johnstown.
Neither team would score in the five minute overtime, and so the game went into a shootout. The shootout would continue for several skaters, as facing elimination, Johnstown and Dayton were able to stay alive twice each. However, it was the shot of BRYAN NATHE that would stand as the game winner, earning the Bombers the 4-3 victory, and Nathe the game's first star honors.
