Trenton Devils News Release

TRENTON, NJ (January 8, 2006) - The Trenton Titans extended their winning streak to four games after defeating the Wheeling Nailers 3-2 in front of 4,956 at the Sovereign Bank Arena.

Mathieu Brunelle's tally at 18:42 of the first put the Titans up 1-0, a lead that Trenton would hold going into the final period of play.

In a span of less than two minutes, back-to-back goals by Brendan Hodge and Eric Sonnenberg helped the Nailers put the Titans in a 2-1 hole. In a matter of minutes, however, the Titans responded with an outburst of their own.

Scott Bertoli got things going when he put a wraparound shot past Wheeling goalie Andy Chiodo to tie the score at two a piece with just under eight minutes to go in the game.

Aaron Gill followed suit 2:46 later when he tipped Stephen Wood's wrist shot home for the eventual game-winner.

The Titans victory gives them a 4-1-1 record against the Nailers this season, a victory that also snapped Wheeling's four game road winning streak.

Mark Lee notched two assists on an afternoon that also saw the end of Jim Henkel's eight-game scoring streak.

Dustin Traylen made it four wins in a row with 21 saves on the night.

The Titans finished 1-for-6 on the power play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.

Trenton next takes the ice at the Nutter Center against the Dayton Bombers on Friday, January 13 at 7:00pm. Tune into 91.3FM WTSR or go to www.trentontitans.com to hear all of the Titans action.
