Augusta Lynx News Release

The Augusta Lynx first trip to the postseason in four years came to an end on Tuesday night at the hands of John Snowden and the Greenville Grrrowl 12:47 into the first overtime period at the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center.

Snowden's overtime game winner caromed off the middle bar of the net, sounding the end of Augusta's return to the playoffs as the puck slid over the left shoulder of Jason Wolfe for a power play goal and the series victory. The power play goal was Greenville's second of the game and third of the series.

Allan Sirois and Adam Nightingale staked the Grrrowl to a 2-0 first period lead. Sirois scored just 57 seconds into the middle frame during a five-on-three advantage, while Nightingale netted the only even strength goal of the game for Greenville at 17:08 from Tim Sestito and Tyler Mosienko.

The Lynx battled back starting at 7:12 of the third period when Sam Ftorek roofed the puck just under the crossbar on Jeff Deslauriers (35 saves) to get Augusta on the board. Anthony Battaglia followed with a power play marker from Chris Leinweber and Nicolas Corbeil, pounding home a goalmouth rebound under Deslauriers to knot the contest and send it to overtime.

Greenville would finish the contest 2-for-7 with the man advantage while Augusta ended the night 1-for-8. Wolfe turned in a 32 save performance in taking the loss.

The Lynx would like to thank all their season ticket holders, sponsors, and fans for a tremendous season - we couldn't do it without you!
