San Diego Gulls News Release
SAN DIEGO - It's playoff time, so that means it's all business for the San Diego Gulls right? Well... that's not entirely true... There's a boxer shorts giveaway Saturday for Game 4 of the series and the players will be sporting them Thursday in a special fashion show at the ipayOne Center.
The Gulls boxer shorts are presented by Coast-to-Coast Tax Service. Each player will autograph a pair, which will then be up for auction on the Gulls' web site (www.sandiegogulls.com) for one week, beginning Friday morning. Proceeds will benefit the Post War Military Family Needs foundation, which provides funds and support to military families caring for their loved ones at military medical facilities. The Post War Military Family Needs foundation is based out of Coronado, Calif.
The fashion show will begin promptly at 3 p.m. at the ipayOne Center Arena Club and will run for approximately 30-45 minutes. It WILL be open to the public FREE of charge.
"The players and coaching staff are obviously very focused on the series at hand with the Falcons, but we also know that just because it's playoffs we can't forget about the best fans in the ECHL," associate coach Jamie Black said. "The fashion show will be a great way to get our fans juiced for our home games this week, not to mention help out a very worthy cause.
"Root us on for our two games up here in Fresno and then come meet up with us Thursday at the arena. We can't wait to get home and play in front our fans. They truly are the sixth skater for us."
San Diego begins its Pacific Division Semifinal playoff series against the Fresno Falcons Tuesday at Save Mart Center, with game-time slated for 7:30 p.m. Game 2 will also be in Fresno Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. before the series shifts back to San Diego.
General Manger and Director of Hockey Operations Martin St. Amour will introduce the playoff roster at the fashion show Thursday and rally the fans for the home portion of the series.
Game 3 will be at the ipayOne Center Friday at 7:35 p.m. and the Gulls will be hosting a special "Playoff Pooch Party," where all fans are invited to bring their dog to the game. It will also be another "Hockey Night in San Diego," presented by FM 94/9, with a post-game party in the Arena Club.
Game 4, as mentioned, is Saturday, with opening faceoff set for 7:05 p.m. The first 5,000 fans in attendance will get their very-own pair of Gulls boxers, thanks to Coast-to-Coast Tax Service. There will also be a live band in the Arena Club after the game.
