Trenton defeated 2-0 in best of three series

TRENTON, NJ (April 11, 2006) - The Trenton Titans were eliminated from the Kelly Cup contention Tuesday evening, falling 4-3 to the Johnstown Chiefs in front of 3,051 at Sovereign Bank Arena. Johnstown overcame a 3-0 deficit and scored four unanswered goals to end the season of the defending Kelly Cup champions.

Trenton opened the scoring at 11:50 of the first period, as Stephen Wood's power play goal gave the Titans an early lead.

Defenseman Dave McCulloch's tally at 7:42 in the second gave Trenton a two-goal cushion, with Scott Selig and Aaron Gill drawing the assists. Minutes later, Mark Lee would backhand his own rebound past the Chiefs' Jonathan Boutin, making it 3-0 Trenton.

The Titans were unable to hold the Chiefs off the board into the intermission, as Andre Deveaux batted a bouncing puck across the goal line with 1:03 left in the second period, giving Johnstown their first goal of the game.

Johnstown continued down the comeback trail with an unassisted marker from Randy Rowe at 4:01 of the third that pulled the Chiefs within two. Zbynek Hrdel capitalized on a turnover in the slot and tied the game with just four minutes to play.

Johnstown completed the comeback with 6.5 seconds remaining in regulation, as Jean Desroches' late goal clinched the North Division Quarterfinals for the Chiefs. Johnstown swept the best-of-three series 2-0 and will go on to play the Toledo Storm in the North Division semifinal.

Rejean Beauchemin made 24 saves and the Titans were a perfect 3-3 on the penalty kill.
