Jamieson's Two Goals Fuels Charlotte Win

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte Checkers rallied behind two goals from Dusty Jamieson and strong goaltending by Jeff Glass to pick up a 4-3 win and even their series with the South Carolina Stingrays at one game apiece in front of 2,929 fans at St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena on Tuesday.

Jamieson scored the first goal of the game on the power play and then put the Checkers up 3-1 with a goal at the 6:51 mark of the second period. Juris Stals chipped in the Checkers second goal of the night to put Charlotte back on top after a South Carolina goal by Anders Strome.

South Carolina bounced back with two goals from Matt Reid - one while the Stingrays were shorthanded - to even the game at 3-3 at the 8:33 mark of the third period.

The Checkers answered less than a minute later as Mike Bayrack drove home the game winner and evened the series.

Glass, a rookie, picked up his first playoff win making 25 saves. Davis Parley took the loss for South Carolina stopping 19 of 23 shots.

The series heads back to South Carolina tomorrow night for the deciding game of the best-of-three series. The Checkers and Stingrays will face off at 7:05 pm in North Charleston, S.C.

The winner of the series will move on to play either the Florida Everblades or the Gwinnett Gladiators. If Charlotte advances, they will play their home games in the best-of-five series on Thursday, April 20th and, if necessary, Friday, April 21st.
