Utah Grizzlies News Release

Las Vegas, Nevada - The Utah Grizzlies (22-17-3-4) scored five-straight goals to beat the Las Vegas Wranglers 5-1 Saturday night at Orleans Arena as they cashed in on three of six power-play chances.

Igor Bobkov stopped 25 of 26 shots, including 20 of 21 through the first two periods when the game was in question to improve to 7-4-2-2 on the year. The win is Utah's largest margin of victory so far this year. Utah improves to 4-1 on their current nine-game road trip and to an ECHL best 15-3-2-2 since Christmas.

"It was a good effort tonight, the power-play came through for us," said Head Coach/General Manager Tim Branham. "A lot of different guys contributed tonight as we had five players score goals and Bobkov was very good."

The Grizzlies fell behind 1-0 after a sluggish first period in which the Wranglers scored on the power-play. Utah though turned it on late in the first and came out strong in the second.

Teigan Zahn clanged a post in the first 30 seconds of the second period and the Grizzlies also had a goal waved off that was knocked in with a high stick as they still looked to tie early in the second.

Utah got on the board 19 seconds into a power-play as Vinny Scarsella and Phil Mangan worked the puck to Mathieu Aubin for his 12th goal of the year.

In the final minute of the second period, shorthanded, Bobkov made some huge stops and Jamie MacQueen was able to work the puck to Michael Pelech who went five-hole for the goal on the breakaway with 24 seconds left in the second period.

Utah added two power-play goals in a 1:26 stretch in the third period to make it 4-1 as Danick Paquette scored his 11th of the year and David Vallorani tacked on his team leading 16th goal of the year at 8:09 and 9:35 of the frame.

The Grizzlies made it 5-1 with 5:22 left in the game as Gwidt and Vallorani beat Las Vegas down the ice and found Phil Mangan all alone in the slot for his eighth goal of the year. The goal by Mangan capped off his three-point night with one goal and two assists.

Vinny Scarsella also had three assists as he assisted on three of Utah's four power-play goals. David Vallorani (one goal, one assist) and Mathieu Aubin (one goal, one assist) also had multiple-point nights for Utah.

Utah continues their nine-game road stretch Sunday in Ontario at 4 p.m.
