Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

EVANSVILLE, Indiana - Matt Schepke's second period outburst helped lead the Evansville IceMen (22-14-3-5) to a 4-2 victory over the Cincinnati Cyclones (26-17-1-1) in front of 5,434 at the Ford Center on Sunday night.

The IceMen struck first at 7:51 when Daultan Leveille grabbed a loose puck and snapped in his 15th goal of the season past Rob Madore (L, 25 saves, 11-7-0) to make it 1-0. However, much like they have in the previous few games, it didn't take long for the Cyclones to answer. Just 39 seconds after the home team grabbed the lead; Brian Nugent caught a great feed from Trevor Lewis and potted his fourth goal of the year to even the score at one. The teams would head into the first intermission all-square.

Evansville wasted little time pulling back ahead in the middle stanza; just 1:34 into the period, Matt Krug's point shot beat Madore through a screen to make it a 2-1 contest. Matt Schepke followed with a pair of tallies separated by less than two minutes to extend the IceMen cushion to 4-1 at the end of 40 minutes.

The Cyclones sparked their comeback hopes just 20 seconds into the final frame, as Nugent collected his second multi-goal game of the season when his wrist shot from the point beat goaltender Mike Clemente (W, 18 saves, 14-6-0-4). Unfortunately, the 4-2 deficit was too much to overcome for Cincinnati as the IceMen salted away victory by killing a late double minor. Evansville's win snapped their five-game losing skid.

The Cyclones will return to U.S. Bank Arena on Wednesday, February 12 when they host the Fort Wayne Komets at 7:30pm! In addition to $1 beers for fans 21 and up, it will be Olympics Night featuring themed events on the ice between periods! Call 513.421.PUCK or visit CyclonesHockey.com to secure your seats.
