Stingrays Game Preview: Stingrays Close Weekend Series against Road Warriors Today

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays close a three-game in three-day weekend series against the Greenville Road Warriors today at 3:00 p.m. at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina. Today is the 12 of 16 meetings between the two teams this season and the first contest of a three-game road trip for the Stingrays.

Series at a Glance:

The Stingrays kicked off the series with a 6-1 victory Friday night at the North Charleston Coliseum behind a six-point game (three goals, three assists) from forward Dale Mitchell . The Road Warriors rallied last night at the Coliseum with a 4-1 triumph. Forward Paul Rodrigues recorded the lone goal for the Stingrays.

Stingrays Receive Defenseman Joe Lavin from Providence:

Defenseman Joe Lavin has been assigned to the Stingrays from their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Providence Bruins. Acquired by the Bruins in a trade with the Springfield Falcons (AHL) earlier this weekend, Lavin, 24, appeared in 24 games with the Falcons' ECHL affiliate, the Evansville IceMen, adding three goals and seven assists for 10 points. A fifth-round draft pick (126 overall) of the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2007 National Hockey League Entry Draft, the Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, native spent the last two seasons in the AHL with Chicago's partnership, the Rockford IceHogs, adding 27 points (four goals, 23 assists) in 112 contests.

Stingrays Sign Goaltender Max Strang:

Strang, 24, skated in three games with the Fort Wayne Komets (ECHL) earlier this season going 0-1-1 with a 3.73 goals-against average and .893 save percentage. A product of Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania, he spent most of this season with the Bloomington Thunder of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) picking up a 9-12-1 record, 3.31 goals-against average and .911 save percentage in 22 appearances.
