Grizzlies Re-Call Peter Metcalf From Idaho

WEST VALLEY CITY, UTAH * Utah Grizzlies General Manager Laurence Gilman announced today that the team has re-called defenseman Peter Metcalf from the Idaho Steelheads and in a separate move released defenseman Nick Naumenko from his professional tryout.

Metcalf, 25, played in 14 games with Idaho scoring three goals with seven assists and 36 penalty minutes. The Steamboat Springs, Colorado native has played in 82 career American Hockey League games scoring two goals with 19 assists and 65 penalty minutes. Metcalf participated in the Grizzlies 2004 training camp scoring a goal in Utah*s 3-0 win over Edmonton on October 8th.

The 6-0, 200-pound blueliner was originally a ninth round draft selection of the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1999 NHL draft. Metcalf had a standout collegiate career at the University of Maine scoring 24 goals with 84 assists in 148 career games.

Naumenko had not scored a point in six games played for Utah this season after being signed to a tryout on October 25th.

The Grizzlies will play the Houston Aeros tonight in the Toyota Center at 6:30 PM (mt). All the play-by-play action can be heard on 1230-AM ESPN Radio.
