Manchester Monarchs News Release
MANCHESTER, NH â Goaltender Adam Hauser collected his third shutout of the season with 28 saves and six different players scored as the Manchester Monarchs established a new team record with their ninth straight win, a 6-0 victory over the Portland Pirates before a sellout crowd of 9,916 at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Friday night. The win was also the Monarchs team record ninth straight on home ice to open the 2004-05 season. The 16-1-0-0 Monarchs, now with 32 points, lead the American Hockey League's Atlantic Division by 10 points over the Hartford Wolf Pack (10-5-1-1, 22 points), which lost to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, 3-1, at the Arena at Harbor Yard on Friday night.
Hauser, who tied a team record with his 10th career shutout as a Monarch, calmly turned away 10 shots in the first period, nine shots in the second period and seven more shots in the third period for his third shutout of the season. In six overall appearances this year, Hauser has a record of 5-0-0 and a goals-against-average of 1.59.
Center Matt Ryan (3), left wing Dustin Brown (10) and right wing Tom Kostopoulos (9) each scored in the opening period as the Monarchs methodically built a three-goal lead.
Center Michael Cammalleri, who extended his league-best scoring streak to 13-games (13-10=23) with an assist on Brown's goal, extended his goal-scoring streak to six-games (nine goals in six games) with a second period tally. Right wing Petr Kanko and left wing Noah Clarke also struck for goals in the middle period for the Monarchs, who salted the game away with a scoreless final stanza.
Along with Cammalleri (1-1=2), Kanko (1-1=2), Ryan (1-1=2), Kostopoulos (1-1=2) and right wing Brad Smyth (0-2=2) all had multi-point games for the Monarchs, who improved to 2-0-0-0 in two games with the Pirates this season.
Goaltender Maxime Ouellet (32 shots, 26 saves) took the loss for the Pirates, who dropped their fourth straight contest.
