BRIDGEPORT, CT – The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, have announced the signing of Right Wing John Morlang to a professional tryout contract. Morlang is scheduled to be in the line-up for tonight's 7:35 p.m. game versus the Harford Wolf Pack at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard.

Morlang, 23, attended training camp with the Sound Tigers this fall and posted two goals, two assists, four points and two penalty minutes and tied for the team lead with a +3 in three preseason games. The Abbotsford, British Columbia native has posted seven goals, six assists, 13 points and ten penalty minutes and is a +6 in 17 games with the United Hockey League's Danbury Trashers since being released from Sound Tigers' camp. Morlang is tied for the Danbury team lead with his seven goals and +6. He also is tied for the UHL lead with three shorthanded goals.

Morlang spent the past two years, the first two of his professional career, with the ECHL's Columbus Cottonmouths posting 19 goals, 26 assists, 45 points and 32 penalty minutes in 70 games last season.

Following tonight's meeting with Hartford, the Sound Tigers will visit the Worcester IceCats tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. Both games will be broadcast live on 600 WICC-AM and at www.soundtigers.com.
