LOOKING AHEAD:
The stage is set for a memorable night (or two) in southeastern Pennsylvania, as Philadelphia and Hershey do battle in a home-and-home series... The Phantoms come into play with 15 consecutive wins, one shy of the Baltimore Skipjacks' 20-year-old AHL record... For good measure, Philadelphia has also won 14 straight meetings with the arch-rival Bears heading into Friday's tilt at the Wachovia Center... Hershey has its own streak to maintain, having won back-to-back games for the first time this season... The teams have faced each other 96 times in the regular season before this weekend, with the Phantoms owning the edge at 51-37-8; average attendance in the all-time series between the clubs is 9,997.
Manchester continues to make waves of its own in the Atlantic Division, winning eight straight and 15 of 16 entering a three-game weekend... The Monarchs entertain a struggling Portland club on Friday night; the Pirates have dropped three in a row by a combined score of 21-4... Manchester's Yanick Lehoux leads the league with 30 points, and his 14 goals already match his 2003-04 total for 66 games... Monarchs occupy half of the league's top 10 in scoring, while Mathieu Garon is tops with his .951 save percentage and four shutouts... Mike Cammalleri has a point in 12 straight games for Manchester, including eight goals in his last five.
A national TV audience on Rogers Sportsnet in Canada gets a two-game series between St. John's and Hamilton at Copps Coliseum... The Maple Leafs have won three in a row and eight out of nine, a stretch that started with Kyle Wellwood's five-goal game against Cleveland on Oct. 30... The Bulldogs had lost their bite, going 0-6-1-1 in eight games before Wednesday's 3-1 win at Rochester... Hamilton goaltender Dan Ellis, who has lost 12 straight AHL decisions since Mar. 27, has received just 11 goals of offensive support in his eight starts this year.
