Barons edge Ducks, 3-2

CLEVELAND, OH -- Shane Joseph scored with 5:57 remaining in the third period to lift the Cleveland Barons to a 3-2 victory over the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks Friday at National City Rink at Gund Arena.

Josh Prudden had a goal and an assist for the Barons, who snapped a three-game losing streak.

Nolan Schaefer made 24 saves in the win for the Barons, who improved to 3-4-1-1 at home.

Michael Holmqvist and Aaron Rome scored for the Ducks, who have lost three straight games and 10 of their last 11, including seven consecutive losses on the road. Rome's goal, which tied the score at 2-2 late in the second period, was the first of his career.

Frederic Cassivi stopped a season-high 38 shots in the losing effort for Cincinnati, which is winless in its last five games against Cleveland dating back to last season (three losses, two ties).

The Ducks and Barons play the back end of a home-and-home series tonight at 7:35 p.m. at Cincinnati Gardens. The first 2,000 fans in attendance will receive a Mighty Ducks puck, courtesy of ESPN/Time Warner.
