February 18, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL)
Utah Grizzlies News Release
Las Vegas, Nevada - The Utah Grizzlies came back from a 3-1 deficit to defeat the Las Vegas Wranglers 4-3 Friday night at Orleans Arena.
Utah took a 1-0 first period lead as Paul McIlveen blasted a slapshot on Utah's first shot 2:23 into the first period for his team-leading 22nd goal of the year. The Wranglers came back with three-straight before the Grizzlies started their comeback.
Mitch Wahl (12) chased a puck up ice and buried it with 1:18 left in the second period to make it 3-2 going to the third period.
The Grizzlies tied the contest on a power-play goal from John Armstrong (5) 9:41 into the third period as a puck fired in from the neutral zone bounced off the back wall to Armstrong who had a wide open net as Wranglers goaltender Joe Fallon left to attempt to play the puck.
Mitch Wahl's second goal of the night and 13th of the year proved to be the game winner as he ripped home a shot in the right circle in transition with 4:32 left in regulation.
Andrew Engelage earned the win in goal for Utah as he stopped 19 of 22 shots from the Wranglers.
The Grizzlies and Wranglers meet again Saturday at 8:05 p.m. and Monday at 12:59 a.m.
Utah returns home March 5th, 7th, 9th and 10th to open four-games in six nights.
