Alaska Aces News Release

Matt Keetley made 49 saves to spoil the homecomings of both the Alaska Aces and forward Chris Langkow in a 4-1 Bakersfield Condors win over the Aces from the Sullivan Arena on Friday night. The Aces fell to 33-14-6, on the season, and lost for just the fifth time this season on home ice. The Aces continue their six-game home stand and three-game series with Bakersfield on Saturday night at 7:15pm. Tickets are on sale now. Langkow made an immediate impact in his first game of the season with Alaska. Just 36 seconds into the contest, Langkow scored the first goal of the game on the first shot of the game, taking a feed from behind the net from Nick Mazzolini. However, that was all the Aces would get on Keetley all night, as he went on to stop the final 49 shots he faced. Alaska continued to pepper the Condors through the frame, outshooting them 17-8, but that was the only goal of the period. Adam Courchaine made a couple of highlight reel saves, including one on Tyler Helfrich on a two-on-none with his left skate blade. The Aces took a 1-0 lead into the second period.

In the second Keetley continued to be solid, and the Condors turned the tide of the game thanks in large part to Parker Stanfield. Stanfield redirected an Evan Trupp pass from the slot past Courchaine to tie the score at 1-1 4:15 into the period. Stanfield then gave the Condors their first lead on a nice individual effort. He blew into the zone stepped around Aces defenseman Kane Lafranchise and slipped the puck through Courchaine's legs at 14:26. Just 32 seconds later former NHL forward, Kyle Calder redirected a shot in the slot past Courchaine to make it 3-1 after two periods. The Aces outshot the Condors 14-11 in the period, but trailed by a pair entering the third period.

It was more Keetley in the third period, stopping 19 Alaska shots to preserve the Condors lead. Helfrich finished off a late give and go at 14:15 to make it 4-1 Condors, and help Bakersfield run their season-high winning streak to four games.

Adam Courchaine (16-10-4) took the loss, making 20 saves on 24 shots. Matt Keetley (10-16-2) earned the win, stopping 49 of 50 shots against. The Aces power play went 0-3, while the Condors went 0-2. The Aces outshot the Condors 50-24 in the game.

The Aces continue their six-game home stand and three-game series with Bakersfield on Saturday night at 7:15pm. Tickets are on sale now. For more information, please call the Aces at 907.258.ACES or visit them online at www.facebook.com/alaskaaceshockey.
