Everblades Slip Past Stingrays in Overtime

South Carolina Stingrays News Release


Estero, FL - The Florida Everblades (26-21-2-4) defeated the South Carolina Stingrays (29-22-3-1) 2-1 in overtime Saturday evening at Germain Arena.

The Everblades opened the scoring at 16:28 of the first period when defenseman Charles Landry fired a shot from the point through a screen and past the blocker of Stingrays goaltender Philipp Grubauer (L, 22 saves on 24 shots). Forwards Alex Hutchings and Scott Pitt earned assists.

Stingrays forward Mike Hamilton tied the contest at 11:22 of the second period beating Everblades keeper Pat Nagle (W, 32 saves on 33 shots) under the blocker from the right-wing circle. Forward Trent Campbell added the assist.

In overtime, Hutchings chipped a shot over the right pad of Grubauer for his 11th goal of the season. Defensemen Ryan McGinnis and David Fisher recorded assists.

The Stingrays return to the North Charleston Coliseum on Saturday, February 25 against the Gwinnett Gladiators for the sixth annual Pink in the Rink presented by East Cooper Medical Center benefitting Susan G. Komen Lowcountry.
