Glads Acquire Burrows from Chicago

The Gwinnett Gladiators acquired defenseman Josh Burrows from the Chicago Express on Saturday. As a part of the transaction, forward Ryley Grantham was re-assigned by Calgary (NHL) from Gwinnett to Chicago.

Burrows, 24, had 11 points (three goals, eight assists) in 43 games with the Express this season. He started his pro career last season with the Bakersfield Condors where he scored one goal in seven regular season games and added a goal and an assist in three playoff games.

The Prairie Grove, IL native joined the Condors after the end of his four-year college career at the University of Vermont. In 144 games as a Catamount Burrows scored 17 goals and added 27 assists while playing both as a forward and defenseman.

Grantham, 24, had two goals and three assists in 40 games with the Gladiators this season. He was also second on the team with 87 penalty minutes. The Hanna, ALTA native split the 2010-11 season with Abbotsford (AHL) and Utah, and was a sixth round pick (#168 overall) of the Calgary Flames in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

The Gladiators are the ECHL Affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres and the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League and are members of the ECHL, the Premier "AA" Hockey League and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
