Grizzlies Open Four-Game Series in Alaska Tonight
December 5, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL)
Utah Grizzlies News Release
The Situation
The Grizzlies go to Alaska at 2-0-1-0 in their last three games and 3-1-1-1 in their last six games. Utah begins a stretch tonight of six-straight games against the Aces and continues a period of eight of ten games against Alaska from November 24-December 15.
Last Trip Up
Utah beat Alaska 5-2 in Anchorage on October 19 and fell 1-0 to the Aces on October 20. Utah remains the only team to beat Alaska at the Sullivan Arena this year as the Aces have won seven-straight since their home opening setback.
Extended Stay
The Grizzlies seven night stay in Anchorage will be their longest in a single city ever as they play a four-game series in one city for the first time ever. This will be the earliest ever however that Utah finishes their slate of games in Anchorage.
In Goal
Grant Rollheiser has taken over the Grizzlies goaltending duties in the absence of starter Andrew Engelage and has gone unbeaten in four-straight games. Overall Rollheiser, a six-foot-four rookie out of Boston University, is 3-1-0-1 with a 3.54 goals-against-average and a .891 save percentage.
Multiple-Point Games In A Row
Brad Mills (four goals, five assists) and Mitch Wahl (one goal, six assists) each have multiple-point games in three-straight games.
Scoring Goals
Utah has scored a goal in eight-straight periods and in three of those periods they have put up three goals. Before this stretch, Utah had scored three goals in a period just twice all season. Bryan Cameron has scored goals in seven of his last eight games played.
Same Name
The Grizzlies have acquired defenseman Jimmy Martin from Elmira. Martin will wear number 8 and is not to be confused with Calgary signed defenseman James Martin who wears #4. Jimmy Martin is a third-year pro out of Yale. He had one assist and a plus-four in 12 games with Elmira this year.
Called-Up
Ryan Howse, under contract with Calgary and riding a three-game scoring streak, was called-up to Utah and Calgary's AHL affiliate in Abbotsford after Saturday's game. It marks Utah's first call-up of the year.
Home Games
The Grizzlies open eight-straight home games when they bring Alaska back with them for games Friday, December 14 and Saturday, December 15. The home stand will keep Utah home through the first of the year before they play in Ontario on January 4.
