July 19, 2005 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Fresno Grizzlies News Release
Fresno, CA - For the second consecutive year the Fresno Grizzlies and the Junior Giants have teamed up to
host an instructional baseball clinic for Jr. Giants participants. The 2005 clinic will be held on July 23rd from
10:30 am to 12:30 pm at Rotary Park in Sanger.
The clinic is free for all Central Valley Junior Giants participants. Central Valley leagues include: Clovis PAL,
Fresno County Boys and Girls Club, Huron Boys and Girls Club, Madera PAL, City of Reedley Community
Services Department, Sanger Recreation Department and Visalia PAL. The Sanger Recreation Department will
host this year's event.
Grizzlies players will travel to Sanger to teach the fundamentals of baseball. Kids will receive instruction on
hitting, pitching, throwing, catching, base running, as well as other areas of the game.
The inaugural Fresno Grizzlies Jr. Giants clinic welcomed over 100 kids in 2004 to Camacho Park in Reedley.
For the second consecutive season the Grizzlies have been an integral part of the Central Valley's Jr. Giants
program. The Grizzlies Community Fund has hosted a glove drive in 2004 and 2005 donating over 100 gloves
to Jr. Giants participants. Each August Grizzlies Stadium welcomes over 700 Jr. Giants participants to enjoy a
day at the ballpark courtesy of the Grizzlies Community Fund.
Junior Giants, the flagship program of the Giants Community Fund, is a non-competitive recreational program
that serves youths 5-18 years old, in both the inner city and rural areas of Northern and Central California.
Along with the fundamentals of baseball, the leagues stress self-esteem, education, teamwork and leadership.
The Giants Community Fund created this program as an opportunity for professional players to bond with and
motivate our younger community members by sharing their baseball skills and secrets of the game. The Fresno
Grizzlies, the Triple A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants has been a part of Central Valley Junior Giants
programs for the past two years.
