
Tucson wins fifth straight

Carlos Quentin homered and drove in four runs as Tucson defeated Tacoma 9-5 Tuesday night at Cheney Stadium. Tucson has now won five straight games and eight of nine while moving five games back of Sacramento in the PCL South Division.
Tucson opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the fourth off Tacoma starter Damian Moss. Carlos Quentin's sacrifice fly scored Scott Hairston with the first run. Josh Kroeger's fielders choice later scored Conor Jackson for the 2-0 advantage.
Tucson chased Moss in the fifth scoring three more runs. Andy Green led off the inning with a triple and scored on a sacrifice fly from Hairston.
Jackson doubled and was driven home on a Quentin single for the second run of the inning. Sergio Santos added a run scoring hit in the inning bring Quentin home for a 5-0 lead.
The Rainiers got to Edgar Gonzalez for two runs in the bottom of the fifth when Ryan Christianson doubled and scored on an Abraham Nunez homer.
Quentin continued his big night in the seventh inning. After Jackson collected his second double of the game, Quentin hit his team leading 19th home run over the fence for a 7-2 lead.
The Rainiers closed the deficit by scoring a run in the seventh and two more in the eighth. Tacoma had the tying run at the plate with two outs in the eighth when Randy Choate struck out Shin Soo Choo to end the threat.
Tucson added two insurance runs in the top of the ninth when Hairston and Barden slammed a pair of solo home runs. Barden finished 3-3 with a walk, a hit by pitch and the homer.
Gonzalez pitched seven innings allowing seven hits and three runs while earning his seventh win and his first since May 30th.
Tucson improved to 50-47 and moved six games back of Sacramento. The Sidewinders and Rainiers will meet Wednesday night in a 7:05 p.m. game. Jon Cannon (3-5 4.38) will start for Tucson against Tacoma's Cha Seung Baek (7-4 5.71). The game live at 7:05 p.m. on 1450 AM.
