Round Rock Express News Release

Omaha - Right fielder Aaron Guiel slammed a Will Cunnane fastball onto the center field hitting back drop at Omaha's Rosenblatt Stadium, and that blow, Guiel's second of the night, a three run shot, lifted to Royals to an 11-10 homer battle on Tuesday.

Both teams rattled the fences for twenty one runs on twenty six hits. The Express blasted four homers, including the Coolbaugh grand slam. Omaha hitters belted three, including the two from Guiel.

Omaha reliever, former Express closer Santiago Ramirez got the win, despite giving up a grand slam homer to DH Mike Coolbaugh that gave Round Rock a short-lived 10-8 lead in the top of the 8th.

The Express actually led through the first two innings, 2-0 on RBI singles in the first and third innings by 1B Royce Huffman. A Luke Scott two run homer to center field upped the lead to 4-0 in the 4th before the Royals got a solo run in the bottom of the 4th to make it 4-1.

The Express watched the lead evaporate as Omaha tied it with a three run inning in the fifth, including Guiel's first homer of the night, a two run blast to right.

Round Rock reclaimed the lead at 5-4 on Chris Tremie's solo homer in the sixth. They upped it to 6-4 on Huffman's solo blast to left in the 7th. But in the bottom of the seventh, reliever Denny McDaniel gave up four runs including a three run homer to DH Calvin Pickering to make it 8-6 Omaha.

That set the stage for the Coolbaugh grand slam in the 8th off Ramirez, to make it 10-8, Guiel's three run homer was the game winner and the final, 11-10 Omaha. Closer Will Cunnane took the loss.

Game three at Rosenblatt Stadium begins at 7:05 as righty Fernando Nieve goes for his third win of the season.
