Fresno Grizzlies News Release

Fresno, CA-The Salt Lake Stingers snapped a three-game losing streak against the Fresno Grizzlies with a 4-2 win Tuesday night at Grizzlies Stadium. The highlight of the night for Fresno was the monstrous home run off the bat of LF Marquis Grissom in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Trailing 1-0 entering the bottom of the fifth, Grissom tattooed the scoreboard in left-center field to break up Salt Lake starter Chris Bootcheck's (5-3) perfect game and shutout with one swing of the bat and tie the score at 1-1. Grissom played the first five innings of the game before being replaced in the top of the sixth. This was Grissom's first game since being sidelined with a strained hamstring on June 13.

Giant's teammate DH Edgardo Alfonzo was 1-4 with a single that came in his last at bat in the bottom of the ninth. Both players will continue their rehab assignments tomorrow night.

RHP Matt Kinney (3-5) suffered the loss for Fresno in another quality outing allowing three runs on six hits in 7 2/3 innings. Kinney's last two starts have come against Salt Lake where he has allowed only five runs in 14 2/3 innings without a win to show for it. 2B Mickey Lopez belted his sixth home run of the season in the bottom of the ninth inning to round out the scoring on the night.

These same two teams will be back in action tomorrow night at Grizzlies Stadium at 7:05. Wienie Wednesday, presented by Evergood Fine Foods, returns to Grizzlies Stadium where fans can purchase $1 hot dogs throughout the game. RHP Seung Song (0-0) will join the Grizzlies rotation from double-A Norwich to take on LHP Clayton Andrews (6-3) and the Stingers.
