Utah Grizzlies News Release

WEST VALLEY CITY, UTAH - The Utah Grizzlies (19-30-4-3) will embark on what matches their longest road trip of the season, eight games, tomorrow night in Chicago with a 6:00 PM (mst) face-off at the Allstate Arena. The trip will cover eight different teams in eight cities over the course of 12 days and will conclude on March 7th in San Antonio.

The Grizzlies are riding high after going 3-1-0 on their recently concluded home stand that saw the club win each of their last two games by a score of 4-1 versus Western Divisional foes (Chicago and Houston). Utah currently sits six points behind Houston for the fifth and final playoff spot and seven points behind Cincinnati for the fourth playoff spot.

Utah has gone 4-2 in their last six games and have been paced by Rob Valicevic who has seven points (3-4 *7) in his last six games and Mathias Tjarnqvist who has four goals over his last four games. Jason Bacashihua has rebounded in net after a season long four-game losing skid by winning his last two starts stopping 65 of 67 shots (.970).

The defensemen have been getting in on the act lately also with Trevor Daley scoring five goals in his last nine games and Jeff MacMillan carrying a +6 rating in his last four games.

Utah's road trip will move on to Grand Rapids on Feb. 26 after tomorrow's Chicago game and will continue in New England with games in Manchester (Feb. 28), Worcester (Feb. 29) and Hartford (Mar. 3). The Grizzlies will finish the trip with three games in three nights, all within the division, beginning on Mar. 5 in Milwaukee and continuing on to Houston (Mar. 6) and San Antonio (Mar. 7).

In all, the Grizzlies will travel 5,220 miles over the next 12 days before returning home on Mar. 10 when they host the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks.
