IceCats Release Goalies

WORCESTER, MA- Goaltenders Mike Valley and Kirk Daubenspeck were released from their respective professional tryout contracts (PTO) and both are expected to return to their ECHL clubs. Blues Senior Vice President/General Manager and IceCats General Manager of Hockey Operations Larry Pleau announced the transaction today.

Valley was summoned from the IceCats/Blues ECHL affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen, on February 19th. He appeared in one game, backstopping the IceCats to a 24 save, 3-2 overtime victory in Providence on Sunday afternoon. Daubenspeck preceded Valley on Saturday night in Hartford, and despite a strong showing and 24 saves, the ‘Cats were defeated by the Wolf Pack, 2-0. Daubenspeck, also signed on the 19th, was called up from South Carolina.

Both goaltenders were making their IceCats debuts and became the seventh and eighth to see action in the Worcester crease.

The IceCats have three games this weekend including Friday and Sunday night at Worcester's Centrum Centre. Both games begin at 7:05 PM. For tickets, call 800-830-CATS.
