Columbus Recalls Brathwaite - Reassigns Leclaire

Syracuse, NY (February 24, 2004) – The Syracuse Crunch announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled goaltender Fred Brathwaite and have reassigned goaltender Pascal Leclaire to Syracuse.

Brathwaite, 31, appeared in three games with Syracuse this season with a 0-2-1 record, a 2.23 goals against average and .924 save percentage. In 16 games with the Blue Jackets this season, Brathwaite has a 2-9-1 record, a 3.41 goals against average, and a .891 save percentage. In 249 career NHL games with Edmonton, Calgary, St. Louis and Columbus, Brathwaite has posted a 79-97-37 record and a 2.72 goals against average. In 35 career AHL games with Cape Breton and Saint John, Brathwaite has posted a 15-17-0 record and a 3.72 goals against average. A native of Ottawa, Ontario, Brathwaite was signed as a free agent by Columbus on June 2, 2003.

Leclaire, 20, made his NHL debut Friday, February 20 @ Phoenix, recording 31 saves. In two games with Columbus, Leclaire has a 3.53 goals against average and .899 save percentage. Leclaire has appeared in 31 games with the Crunch this season, posting a 15-10-3 record with a 2.85 goals-against average, a .920 save percentage and one shutout. A native of Repentigny, Quebec, Leclaire was selected by Columbus with their first pick, 8th overall, in the 2001 Entry Draft.

Syracuse hosts Toronto on Wednesday, February 25 for a 7:00 pm face-off. On Friday, February 27 the Crunch hosts the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton at the War Memorial at Oncenter.
