Manchester Monarchs News Release
MANCHESTER, NH âThe Los Angeles Kings, the NHL affiliate of the Manchester Monarchs, on Tuesday agreed to terms on a multi-year contract extension with Kings Vice President of Hockey Operations/Assistant General Manager Kevin Gilmore. Per club policy, terms of the agreement were not announced. Gilmore, 39, has been with the Kings since the end of the 1998-99 season, when he was hired as the club's assistant general manager. Under the direction of Kings Senior Vice President/General Manager Dave Taylor, Gilmore handles the bulk of contract negotiations and assists Taylor in all facets of the Kings hockey operations department. He added vice president of hockey operations to his title two years ago and also serves as the general manager of the Monarchs.
Said Taylor: "Kevin continues to be a great asset to both our club and to our hockey operations department. He has also been instrumental in the success of the Monarchs, not only in the overall growth of that franchise but with the on-ice product as well as we continue to see a lot of young talented players joining the Kings."
As general manager of the Monarchs, Gilmore, an integral part of the Kings' acquisition of the AHL franchise in 2000, oversees that club's hockey operations and business operations as well as the development of the Kings' top prospects. The Monarchs have made the playoffs in each of their first two seasons in the AHL while compiling an impressive 104-72-26-12 regular season record. The club also led the AHL in attendance last season (averaging 8,986 fans) after finishing third in league attendance in its 2001-02 inaugural season (8,199). The Monarchs also currently lead the AHL in attendance this season, averaging 8,966 fans per game.
A native of Arvida, Quebec, Gilmore, prior to joining the Kings, served as president of Newport Beach-based Professional Sports Advisors Group (PSAG), which provided consulting services for a number of NHL teams including the Kings. He also has worked for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and the Anaheim Angels.
The Kings (24-17-14-7; 69 points) will take on the Stars on Wednesday, February 25, at 8:30 p.m. (ET). The game will be broadcast on ESPN Radio 710-KSPN and along the Kings Radio Network. The Monarchs (28-21-5-3, 62 points) return to action on Wednesday, February 25 when they host the Portland Pirates in a 7:05 contest at the Verizon Wireless Arena.
Monarchs Ticket Availability as of February 24, 2004
