Albany River Rats News Release

Albany N.Y. – The Albany River Rats announced that its Friday, February 27 contest against division rival Bridgeport Sound Tigers will have a Mardi Gras flavor. The 7:00pm game at Pepsi Arena will be peppered with New Orleans-style jazz and Zydeco music, plus concessions that will feature favorites from the Big Easy. Fans will also have a chance to catch beads to win prizes like a family four-pack to the Mardi Gras Festival 2004 at Proctor's Theater and dinner certificates from Bayou Café.

"We're committed to not only delivering great hockey action, but giving our fans a little extra entertainment," said Mark Nickerson, Game Night Operations Manager for the River Rats. "Theme nights add fun and excitement, while showcasing other local businesses and their offerings."

In addition to Proctor's Theater and Bayou Café, the River Rats game will feature music from local favorites Captain Squeeze and the Zydeco Moshers, who will be headlining Proctor's Mardi Gras Festival on February 28. Additional clips will be provided by River City Slim and the Zydeco Hogs, who are scheduled to perform at Bayou Café in May. The Party Warehouse will provide Mardi Gras decorations that will adorn the Pepsi Arena, Mardi Gras beads and other themed regalia.

The Albany River Rats, in their 11th season as a member of the American Hockey League, are owned and operated by Capital District Sports Inc., and serve as the primary affiliate of the Stanley Cup Champion New Jersey Devils.
