Utah Grizzlies News Release
Las Vegas, Nevada - The Utah Grizzlies came back from the loss in Boise with their largest goal output of the season, with eight that included hat tricks from Michael Haley and Ryan Kinasewich.
The first period of hockey in Vegas was scoreless and the game seemed like it was going to be decided by the dueling goaltenders. The first period was highlighted by a lengthy 10 minute stoppage and two fights to finish off the first.
The second period was completely opposite of the first with eight goals scored between the two teams. Within the first two minutes, Scott Burt put the Grizz up 1-0 with the assist to Trevor Smith, then Vegas came back with two quick goals including one on a penalty shot. Then the Grizzlies responded with four straight goals to gain a 5-2 lead. Michael Haley scored his second and third of the season, Keith Johnson tipped in his first of the season, and Ryan Kinasewich also added his third of the year. Las Vegas closed the period with a goal to make it 5-3.
The goal barrage continued into the third when Michael Haley completed his hat trick to put the Grizzlies up 6-3. Las Vegas followed with a goal to cut it to a 2-goal deficit. But, Ryan Kinasewich scored back-to-back goals to complete his hat trick and put the Grizz up 8-4. Las Vegas created a lot of pressure in the third but could only muster one more goal and the Grizz went on to win 8-5
Michael Mole turned aside 39 of 44 Las Vegas shots.
The Grizzlies meet Las Vegas again Saturday at the Orleans Arena. Face-off is scheduled for 8:05 p.m.
Utah returns home Friday, November 9 and Saturday, November 10 to host Victoria at the E-Center.
