ELMIRA, NY - The Cincinnati Cyclones received goals from five different skaters in defeating the Elmira Jackals 5-1 Friday night in front of 3,408 fans at First Arena.
The Cyclones got on the board 6:39 into play when a center ice turnover was picked up by Thomas Beauregard. Skating in on netminder Joel Martin, Beauregard pulled Martin out with a deke and slipped a backhander into an open net for a 1-0 lead.
Mathieu Aubin bumped the visitors' advantage to 2-0 when he cashed in on a wide open net off of a James Sixsmith rebound on which Martin had no chance on at 16:38.
Jim McKenzie netted his first professional goal 4:46 into the second period to halve the Cincinnati lead to 2-1, but the momentum was short-lived.
The Cyclones ripped off three unanswered scores to put a stranglehold on the game 5-1 after 40 minutes of play in what turned out to be the final margin Friday night.
Martin played the first forty minutes for the Jackals allowed all five goals in absorbing his first loss of the year after three consecutive wins.
