
Cyclones Drop Elmira, 5-1, Friday night

ELMIRA, New York - Cincinnati Cyclones rookie forward Thomas Beauregard had a goal and an assist, goaltender Dov Grumet-Morris stopped 32 shots and the club claimed a 5-1 win at Elmira tonight. Five different goal scorers participated for Cincinnati, which ended a two game losing streak.
The Cyclones opened the scoring at 6:39 of the first period, when Thomas Beauregard took a turnover at the Cincinnati blueline and broke up the right wing side. Beauregard hammered home his third goal of the season. Cincinnati extended the lead to 2-0, when Mathieu Aubin battled for a loose puck at the right side of the Elmira net at 16:35. James Sixsmith and Matt Macdonald added the assists. The Cyclones outshot the Jackals, 9-8, in the frame.
In the second period, Elmira closed the gap to one, 2-1, when Jim McKenzie netted his first score of the season at 4:46.
The floodgates were then opened. Cincinnati responded by scoring the next three goals of the frame. Andrew Martin scored at 8:42 from Beauregard and Scott Reynolds to restore the two goal lead. Less than two minutes later, at 10:41, Barret Ehgoetz collected his second lamplighter of the year from Macdonald and Sixsmith. Gerard Miller got in on the scoring frenzy at 17:38, with Travis Fuller and Jean-Michel Daoust picking up the helpers.
There was no scoring in the third period and the Cyclones held a 37-33 shots on goal edge. Dov Grumet-Morris stopped 32 shots in picking up his second win of the year.
The Cyclones improve to 3-2 on the season, while Elmira drops to 3-2-1 on the year.
The third game of the four game trip continues Saturday night, when the Cyclones are at Reading for a 7:05pm contest. That game can be heard on WFTK-FM (SuperTalk FM 96.5), as well as the Cyclones website (www.cycloneshockey.com).
