
Grizzlies Come from Behind Late for 4-3 Shootout Win

Loveland, Colorado - The Utah Grizzlies (24-17-3-5) defeated the Colorado Eagles (24-14-5-4) 4-3 in a shootout Friday night at Budweiser Events Center.
Utah tied the game at 3 with 4:45 left in the third period as Brent Gwidt took a feed from Phil Mangan for his fifth goal of the year. The goal came 16 seconds after the Grizzlies had just killed a late penalty.
Igor Bobkov improved to 8-4-2-2 and unbeaten in his last nine starts for the Grizzlies as three of Utah's four skaters scored for Utah in the shootout and Bobkov stopped Colorado's final attempt in round five to give the Grizzlies the win. Mathieu Aubin and Jamie MacQueen scored in the first two rounds for Utah and Vinny Scarsella scored the game-winner after Colorado had just tied the shootout at two.
Utah trailed 1-0 going to the second period and 3-1 for 17 seconds before Danick Paquette quickly made it 4-2 on his 12th goal of the year with 5:58 left in the second period. The Eagles had previously broken a 1-1 tie with two goals in 4:03 for their short lived two-goal second period lead.
The Grizzlies trailed 1-0 after giving up a power-play goal 1:53 into the game before D.J. Jelitto took the puck from Colorado goaltender Marc Cheverie from behind the net and fed Michael Pelech in the right circle for the backhand and his 10th goal of the year as Cheverie scrambled to get back 3:07 into the second period.
Utah completes their nine-game road trip Saturday in Stockton. Face-off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.
The Grizzlies return home Monday for a 1:35 p.m. start for Maverik Monday on President's Day. Fans can get six tickets for $30 with a receipt from Maverik.
Wednesday is the next Wild $2 Wednesday with $2 hot dogs, $2 fries, $2 soft drinks, $2 draft beers and $5 student tickets against Idaho at 7 p.m.
