The Jackals are facing the Icemen tonight for the third of five meetings this season and the first of three at First Arena. Elmira is 2-0-0 against Evansville this season, which includes a 2-0-0 record on the road. Tonight is Evansville's first visit to First Arena in over a calendar year and only the third time in its ECHL existence. The Icemen defeated Elmira 4-3 in overtime on January 12, 2013. The last, and only, Jackals win at First Arena against Evansville came one day earlier on January 11, 2013. Ben Blood blasted home the overtime game-winner to give the Jackals a 3-2 win. These two teams have only met six times in their ECHL histories with the Jackals holding a 5-0-1 advantage in the all-time series.
After nine consecutive games against the North Division (6-2-1 record in that time) the Jackals now turn their focus to their divisional foes. Wednesday was the first of seven in an eight-game stretch in which Elmira faces the Atlantic with Wheeling making up five of those and Reading the other two. The Jackals enter play tonight nine points behind Wheeling for 10th place in the Eastern Conference standings.
Mark your calendars! The Jackals return to home ice on Friday, February 21 to take on the Wheeling Nailers. Swan and Sons is sponsoring a rally towel giveaway that night. Don't forget that groups of 10 or more who book in advance receive discounts off the box office price and preferred seating based on availability. Call 607-734-7825 to get your group outing booked.
