MEIJER KIDS CLUB MATINEE GAME

TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: It's only fitting that two heated North Division rivals will battle it out tonight on this 2014 Valentine's Day, as the Cyclones pay a visit to the Fort Wayne Komets in hopes of snapping their six game losing skid. The road team has won every game in the season series thus far - as Cincinnati took a 5-4 decision at Memorial Coliseum back in October. In fact, of the 14 games played since becoming ECHL foes, the home team has won just three times.

SCOUTING THE KOMETS: Gary Graham's club has strung together points in seven consecutive games and, as a result, have pulled into a three-way tie for fourth place in the Eastern Conference race. Led by the ECHL's leading scorer Brandon Marino, the Komets have posted four or more goals in three of their last five tilts. Overall this season, Marino has tallied 60 points (20 goals, 40 assists) in 46 games - nine of those have come against Cincinnati. Mike Embach has continued a strong showing against his former team; in four meetings with the Cyclones, he has notched six goals and an assist. In total, he ranks fourth on the team with 19 goals and 15 helpers. Goaltender Ben Meisner, who has led to points in six straight starts, is 9-10-2 this year with a goals-against average of 2.46. Andrey Makarov, meanwhile, has amassed a 13-7-2-1 mark with a 2.73 GAA.

LAST HEAD-TO-HEAD MEETING: FEBRUARY 12, 2014: Mike Embach's hat trick was enough to lift the Komets over the Cyclones by a 4-2 final score in front of 2,235 at U.S. Bank Arena. Netminder Ben Meisner turned aside 13 of the 15 shots he faced in the tilt. In the defeat, Josh Birkholz recorded his fifth point in eight games since returning from injury.

Hit Me with Your Best Shot: The Clones have equated strong shots on goal numbers to wins this season. They are 14-6-0-1 when outshooting their opponents in 2013-14.

Nothing But Nugent: Last Sunday, Cyclones forward Brian Nugent posted his second two-goal game of the season. He has collected four goals in his first seven games since joining the Cyclones on January 31.

Spreading the Wealth: Ben Simon's team has gotten contribution from everybody this season. In fact, every player on the Cyclones active roster (excluding goaltenders) have earned at least one point in 2013-14. In fact, of Cincinnati's 26 victories, 20 different players have earned the game-winning goal.
