Stockton Thunder News Release
The Sound Tigers announced that they have traded Mike Dalhuisen to the San Antonio Rampage for Adam Brace who will be assigned to the Stockton Thunder.
The Bridgeport Sound Tigers have announced the trade of defenseman Mike Dalhuisen to the San Antonio Rampage of the AHL for forward Adam Brace. Dalhuisen, 25, had 16 points on seven goals and nine assists in 32 games with the Stockton Thunder this season.
Dalhuisen was third on the team in penalty minutes with 79 and was tied for third in the ECHL in major penalties by a defenseman with nine, all of them fights. The Nijmegen, Netherlands native had two stints in the ECHL with the Thunder this season, starting his pro career with a "Gordie Howe hat trick" in Stockton's season opener.
"It's always my goal to move up hockey-wise," Dalhuisen said. "It is sad that I have to leave Stockton because I really love it here, especially the fans and the impact they've had on me and vice-versa. I just want to thank them for everything they've done for me."
Dalhuisen was a graduate of Quinnipiac University where he helped lead the Bobcats to the NCAA Championship game last season. He also plays for the Netherlands men's national hockey team along with the Thunder's Mitch Bruijsten.
Brace, 25, will be assigned to Stockton from Bridgeport. The Cobden, Ontario native split this season between the AHL with San Antonio and their ECHL affiliate the Cincinnati Cyclones. Brace had 6 points in 10 games with the Charlotte Checkers, while posting 21 points in 31 games with the Cyclones.
Brace graduated from Robert Morris University last season after spending three seasons with the Colonials. He spent his freshman season at Canisius College before transferring. Brace made his pro debut at the end of the 2012-13 season with the Florida Everblades, posting six points in four regular season games and adding 15 points in 13 Kelly Cup playoff games.
The Thunder return home to face the Utah Grizzlies tomorrow, Saturday, February 15, for Star Wars night. It's the team's final home game of the month. The first 1,000 fans entering Stockton Arena receive free Lightsaber Thunder-Sticks, and fans are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite character from the Star Wars universe.
