Grizzlies Announce Roster To Start Training Camp

West Valley City, Utah - Utah Grizzlies Head Coach and Director Hockey Operations Kevin Colley today released his roster to begin the 2008-2009 training camp. Of the current roster, seven members return from the 2007-2008 Grizzlies team that went to the conference finals. Seven players come to Utah from AHL camps.

The Grizzlies are proud to be the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's New York Islanders and their AHL affiliate in Bridgeport.

Colley said the team will receive more help when Bridgeport makes their final cuts later this week. The Grizzlies open camp Tuesday at the Acord Ice Center at 10 a.m. All practices are open to the public.

Goaltenders:

Mike Mole: 18-13-5 last year with Utah. Was called up to New York in March.

Jordan Neamonitis: Spent 2007-2008 training camp with Utah.

Forwards:

Matt Craig: Spent last year in Idaho. Tallied 25 goals and 33 assists in 115 games with Utah from 2005-2007.

Shea Hamilton: Played college hockey with Justin Johnson at University of Alaska-Anchorage.

Justin Johnson: 57 games with 2007-2008 Grizzlies; including a hat trick on February 6 at Stockton.

Ryan Kinasewich: Grizzlies all-time leading scorer in the ECHL with 91 goals and 113 assists for 204 points in 148 games.

Evan Kotsopoulos: Played eight games with Utah last year before sustaining season-ending injury after being acquired from Bakersfield.

Tom May: Rookie, played four seasons of college hockey at the University of Denver.

Greg McCauley: Played at Ryerson University in Canada.

Brandon Scero: Played nine games with Mississippi of the ECHL after completing college at the University of Nebraska-Omaha last year.

Kazuma Takahashi: 28 games with Grizzlies in 2007-2008.

Tim Verbeek: A veteran of 400 professional games. Played last two years for the ECHL's Stockton Thunder.

Michael Walsh: Played in the NAHL with Bismarck.

Defense:

Will Bodine: 6-foot-4; played 58 games last year with Augusta tallying 115 penalty minutes.

Jon Gleed: Split last year between Milwaukee (AHL) and Cincinnati (ECHL) winning Kelly Cup Championship with Cyclones.

Jordan Hart: Played 85 total games last year with Utah. Attended camp this year with New York.

Reagan Leslie: Spent last three seasons with the ECHL's Bakersfield Condors.

James Sanford: Had three goals and 11 assists last year for Utah in 15 playoff games and 9 goals and 23 assists for 32 points in 49 games.

Evan Stoflet: Played last year in Corpus Christie (CHL).

The Grizzlies open the 2008-2009 season Saturday, October 18 at Idaho. The home opening weekend for Utah is Friday and Saturday, October 24 and 25 versus Alaska at the E-Center.

The Utah Grizzlies, of the ECHL, celebrate their 15th anniversary season in 2008-2009. Owned and operated by the Elmore Sports Group, the Grizzlies enter their second season and sixth overall as an affiliate of the New York Islanders. South Jordan resident and former Islander Kevin Colley enters his first season as the Grizzlies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations after serving as Jason Christie's Assistant Coach in 2007-2008 as the team advanced to the National Conference Finals. The Grizzlies play all home games at the E-Center of West Valley City, which hosted hockey during the 2002 Winter Olympics.
