Grizzlies Acquire Prokop From Bakersfield, Sign Ryan Hand

West Valley City, Utah - Utah Grizzlies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Colley announced today that the team has acquired rookie defenseman Patrik Prokop from Bakersfield to complete a trade made last week that sent Evan Stoflet to the Condors. In addition, the team has announced the signing of heavyweight forward Ryan Hand.

Prokop played in 7 games with the Condors this season after completing his junior career with Drummondville of the QMJHL in 2008-2009 by winning a league championship. In 2008, with Gatineau, he also won the league championship and again played in the Memorial Cup. In 173 total games playing Major Junior hockey, he tallied 14 goals and 67 assists for 81 points and 118 penalty minutes. In 42 playoff games, the native of the Czech Republic had 38 points (six goals, 34 assists).

Hand played 48 games last year split between Laredo and Rapid City of the CHL and tallied one goal, two assists and 125 penalty minutes. In 152 total games in the QMJHL he tallied 13 assists and 642 penalty minutes.

Utah returns to action Wednesday in Idaho. Face-off is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.

The Grizzlies are back at the E-Center Friday, December 18 and Saturday, December 19 when they will welcome in Bakersfield. Face-off both evenings is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
