
Greys Score Three in the Eighth to Send Freedom to Loss

Florence,KY-The Frontier Greys(10-15) broke a 3-3 tie in the eighth inning against Freedom reliever Brandon Mathes(0-4) as they defeated Florence(14-12) 6-3 on Saturday night at University of Cincinnati Medical Center Stadium.
With the game tied at 3-3 in the eighth and with one out, Calvin Anderson singled to left off Mathes to start their rally. Blake Bergeron then singled on a hit and run putting runners on the corners. After a walk to Justin Vasquez and with the bases loaded, Brock McCallister produced the Greys third sacrifice fly of the night which gave them a 4-3 lead. Luis Parache followed by doubling down the right field line plating a pair of runs to go ahead 6-3.
The Freedom had the tying runner at the plate in the ninth, but J.C. Figueroa grounded out to shortstop to end the game.
Junior Arrojo hit his third homerun of the season in the first inning against Grey starter Tyler Vaske. Alfonso Cardenas(1-0)picked up the win out of the Grey bullpen.
Jacob Tanis, Arrojo, and Gary Owens who made his Freedom debut all had two hits. Balbino Fuenmayor led the Greys with a four hit performance.
The Freedom and Greys will play the rubber match of their three game series Sunday night at UCMC Stadium. LHP Matt Costello(0-2, 5.12) will start for the Greys while RHP Dan Jensen(3-1, 2.92) will be on the hill for the Freedom. First pitch is at 6:05 as the game can be heard with Steve Jarnicki and Jake Meyer starting at 5:50 on 1320 AM and gospel1320.com.
