Some headlines...

JOLIET SLAMMERS (11-14) @ TRAVERSE CITY BEACH BUMS (14-11)

Saturday, June 15 - 6:05 p.m. CT Wuerfel Park - Traverse City, MI

Game #26 - Road Game #11 (11-14), (4-6)

RHP #31 Evan Anundsen (3-2, 4.78 ERA) vs. RHP #35 Johnny Omahen (0-3, 7.23 ERA)

Last time out...

The Slammers fell 12-2 to the Beach Bums on Friday night. The game was close for most of the night as the Beach Bums held a 5-2 lead until the eighth inning when they exploded for seven runs to put the game out of reach for Joliet. Joliet was down 2-0 until the top of the fifth when they scored two runs to tie the game. Jerod Yakubik reached on a single with one out in the inning and David Christensen batted him home on a RBI double. Christensen advanced to third on the play when the Beach Bums unsuccessfully tried to throw out Yakubik at home. Nick Akins tied the game after Seth Schwindenhammer walked by driving Christensen home from third on a RBI double, making it a 2-2 ballgame after the top of the fifth inning. But a Chase Burch two-run home run in the bottom half of the frame put Traverse City up for good in the game. Corey Kimes took the loss for the Slammers.

For Starters...

Evan Anundsen has won back-to-back starts for Joliet, including his most recent outing on June 9 against the Schaumburg Boomers. He went six innings, scattering seven hits and giving up three runs in a 13-5 win for Joliet. In all three of his wins, Anundsen has gone exactly six innings. The 25-year old from Littleton, Colorado was a fourth round selection of the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2006 draft out of Columbine High School. He spent the past seven seasons pitching in the Milwaukee organization and started 24 games for the Double-A Huntsville Stars in 2012. Anundsen's best season as a professional came in 2009 when he posted a 2.69 ERA in 23 starts for the High Single-A Brevard County Manatees.

Below average...

The Slammers currently do not have anyone hitting .300 or better this season. Michael Wing leads the team with a .294 batting average.

Bummed out...

Last night marked the most runs the Slammers have given up in 2013 (12) and their largest margin of defeat (10).

Down but not out...

The Slammers are a season-high 6.5 games out of first place in the West.

Better when the game is close...

The Slammers have posted a 3-1 record in one-run games this season. However they are 8-13 when the game is decided by more than one run.

Getting series-ous...

The Slammers have won three of their past four series. However, they have yet to sweep a series in 2013.

Power outage...

The Slammers have only hit seven home runs so far in 2013, the second fewest in the Frontier League.

Save me...

Justin Erasmus is tied for third in the Frontier League with five saves and the Slammers as a whole have six saves in six attempts so far in 2013.

Five is the magic number...

The Slammers are 8-1 when scoring 5 or more runs. They are only 3-13 when scoring fewer than 5 runs.

Get more hits!

Joliet has posted a 9-2 record when they out-hit the opponent. But they're 1-12 when out-hit.

They gone!!
