TRAVERSE CITY, MI - Johnny Omahen pitched a career-best six innings and the Traverse City Beach Bums used a four-run sixth en route to a 6-2 win against the Joliet Slammers on Saturday night.

Traverse City jumped out in the bottom of the first inning when Taylor Wrenn extended his hitting streak to 19 games, homering off the pole in right to put TC up 1-0.

Joliet needed a couple of innings to counter, but in the fourth back-to-back doubles from Michael Wing and David Christensen tied the game at 1-1. The Slammers would take the lead in the top of the sixth when Nate Wilder doubled and came into score on an infield single and an error.

The Beach Bums wasted no time in responding as with one out in the bottom of the sixth, Carlo Testa walked. Zach Kometani drove a ball to deep centerfield that hit off the top of the wall scoring Testa and allowing Kometani to reach third with a triple. Marcus Nidiffer stood in and singled home Kometani for a 3-2 TC lead. After a Sean Gusrang single moved Nidiffer to third, D'Marcus Ingram singled him home and pushed Gusrang up two bags. Ryan Still walked to load the bases and two batters later, Jose Vargas drew a walk to score Ingram and cap the inning with Traverse City leading 5-2.

One more run would cross in the seventh for the Beach Bums as Kometani tripled off the wall in center and Nidiffer doubled him home.

The win went to Omahen (1-3) who allowed two runs on four hits during six innings of work. Mike Devine and Matt Miller combined to shutout Joliet through the final three frames.

Offensively, Kometani led the 11-hit Traverse City attack with his fourth, three-hit game in his last six contests. Ingram and Nidiffer had two hits apiece with the latter driving in a pair of runs.
