Greenough Recalled To Springfield, Elliot Back To San Antonio
March 10, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Augusta Lynx News Release
The Augusta Lynx are proud to announce today that forward Nick Greenough has been recalled to Springfield of the American Hockey League, while defenseman Paul Elliot has gone back to parent club San Antonio.
Greenough, 23, who currently sits among the ECHL's leaders in majors with 25, is making his second appearance in the AHL this season. The Windsor, Nova Scotia native appeared in one game with Houston earlier this season, and has spent a total of 43 games in the AHL with Manitoba, Grand Rapids, Providence, Lowell, Houston, and now Springfield. The 6-4, 225 lb. winger has also collected a goal and nine points to go with 201 PIMs with the Lynx this season.
"It's good to see another guy on our team get a chance to play in the American League," said Chuck Weber, Lynx Assistant Coach. "That's what we're here for is to develop talent and help guys make it to the next level. We're not sure how long Nick will be gone, but he knows it's up to him to make the most of this opportunity."
As for Elliot, the defenseman suffered a slight injury in the Lynx's game against Pensacola and was recalled to San Antonio to make room for defenseman Darren Shakotko, who is expected to join the team in time for Thursday's practice, and is likely to play Saturday night against Florence. Elliot has played 15 games with the Lynx this year, recording a goal and four points. Shakotko was acquired in a trade by the Lynx for Stuart Pietersma and John Donnelly last week.
Finally, Augusta announced today that they have suspended defensemen Marc St. Jean for failing to report to the club following his acquisition from Charlotte.
