Bridgeport Returns Gauvreau

BILOXI, Miss. – The Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League announced that center Brent Gauvreau (GOHV-roh) has been reassigned to the Mississippi Sea Wolves of the ECHL.

Gauvreau, 23, appeared in 12 games with Bridgeport, tallying three goals, five points, an even rating and eight penalty minutes since January 25. The 6-foot-3 and 210-pound Gauvreau has played in 41 games with Mississippi this season, registering 20 goals, 55 points and 38 penalty minutes. A native of Sudbury, Ontario, Gauvreau also has a team-leading seven game-winning goals and +30, which is tied for third in the ECHL. Gauvreau was selected as a starter for the Western Conference at the 2004 Par-A-Dice ECHL All-Star Game and registered an assist in the contest on January 21 at Peoria. Gauvreau was selected by the Calgary Flames in the fifth round, 120th overall in 1998 National Hockey League Entry Draft and then in the sixth round, 186th overall by the Phoenix Coyotes in 2000.

Gauvreau and the Sea Wolves hit the ice at 6:35 p.m. tomorrow against the Texas Wildcatters at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. Game coverage starts at 6:20 p.m. with the Nextel Pregame Show on ESPN Radio WXBD-AM 1490 and online at msseawolves.com.
