Reading Blanked For Second Time, 3-0
March 10, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Reading Royals News Release
It took 27 home games for the feat to occur once. Yet it didn't take long to happen again. For the second time in as many contests at the Sovereign Center, Reading was blanked by a division foe, losing on Tuesday night to Wheeling, 3-0. The Royals are now 0-5-1 in their last six contests, and 3-5-2 in their last 10 games.
After a scoreless first period, the Nailers jumped out in front on an even-strength goal by their leading scorer, Jason Jaffray, at the 3:57 mark of the second stanza. Wheeling (46-13-2) tacked on two power play goals in the third period to seal the game, extending Reading's (31-20-9) scoreless drought to six periods.
The Royals managed 32 shots on goal, while netminder Peter Hamerlik stopped 22 shots in the loss.
Reading continues its season-high, seven-game homestand on Friday night, March 12th as Johnstown visits the Sovereign Center. Faceoff is at 7:05 pm. All the action can be heard live via the Royals' web site at www.royalshockey.com courtesy of Sportsjuice or locally on ESPN Radio, 1240AM.
