
Gordon, Powe, Stortini Named Phantoms Captains

Lehigh Valley, PA - The Lehigh Valley Phantoms, proud AHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, announced today that forwards Andrew Gordon, Darroll Powe and Zack Stortini will all serve as alternate captains for the 2014-2015 season. The inaugural regular season of Phantoms hockey at PPL Center begins next Friday, October 17.
Gordon (above) along with Powe and Stortini will serve as the Phantoms captains this season.
Photo courtesy JustSports Photography. "All three bring a tremendous amount of experience and leadership to our hockey team" Phantoms' head coach Terry Murray said. "They conduct themselves like professionals both on and off the ice and will be excellent mentors to help bring along some of our younger players."
Tickets for next Friday's regular season home opener are still available. Tickets can be purchased in-person at the Mealey's Furniture Box Office at PPL Center (7th & Hamilton), by calling 610-347-TIXX (8499) or online at pplcenter.com. The Phantoms will host an "Orange Out" next Friday where every fan in attendance will receive a free orange shirt.
Gordon, Powe and Stortini bring a combined 1,162 games of professional experience to the Phantoms. All three will wear an "A" (alternate captain) when Lehigh Valley's regular season begins tomorrow at 7:05 PM at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
"All three have been leaders recently with other organizations," Murray said. "We're looking forward to that leadership carrying over here in Lehigh Valley."
Gordon, 28, spent last season with the St. John's IceCaps where he produced 23 goals and 56 points in 76 games. All told, the Halifax, Nova Scotia native has recorded 149 goals and 323 points in 426 career AHL games.
Powe, 29, spent much of last season with the Hartford Wolf Pack where he tallied 13 goals, 24 points and 106 penalty minutes in 73 games. A native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Powe has registered 28 goals, 58 points and 279 penalty minutes in 168 career AHL outings.
Stortini, 29, spent last season with the Norfolk Admirals where he produced four goals, nine points and a league-leading 299 penalty minutes in 73 games. A native of Elliot Lake, Ontario, the 6'4", 215-pound Stortini has compiled 30 goals, 63 points and 1,223 penalty minutes in 366 career AHL games.
