Goodson Activated, Daeges Placed on DL

Portland, Maine- The Boston Red Sox have activated right-hand pitcher Matt Goodson from the disabled list. Zach Daeges was placed on the disabled list, retroactive to April 14. Goodson will wear uniform #18 and will start tonight against the Connecticut Defenders.

The 25 year-old Goodson, split time between Double-A Portland and Single-A Lancaster in 2007. In five games with Portland, Goodson posted a 1-1 record with a 4.76 ERA. He fanned a career high ten batters on May 3rd in a loss to Bowie. At Single-A Lancaster, Goodson was 4-5 with a 6.88 ERA in 11 starts. The Galveston, Texas native was selected by the Red Sox in the 23rd round of the June 2004 draft.

Daeges has appeared in nine games for the Sea Dogs this season hitting .182 with two doubles and a triple. Last season he was a California League All-Star hitting .330 with 21 home runs and 113 RBI. The 24 year-old Daeges was selected by the Red Sox in the sixth round of the June 2006 draft.

The Portland Sea Dogs are off to a 7-3 start and currently sit atop the Eastern League's Northern Division. Portland continues their series with the Connecticut Defenders tonight at 6:00 PM at Hadlock Field.
