B-Mets Plan "Giant" Event For Chris Snee Day

In honor of the Montrose (PA)-raised starter for the Super Bowl XLll Champion New York Giants, the Binghamton Mets have designated the game on Sunday, May 18th as Chris Snee Day at NYSEG Stadium. Snee, the right offensive guard for the New York Football Giants, will sign autographs when the gates open at 11 am up until 12:30 pm before throwing out the ceremonial first pitch for the 1:05 pm game against the Erie Seawolves.

A 2nd round draft pick of the Giants in 2004, the 26-year-old grew up just 25 miles south of Binghamton in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania and is believed to be the first National Football League player to grow up in that county. Now listed at 6'3" and 317 pounds, he graduated from Montrose High School in 1999 and was a three-time, All Conference selection for the Meteors.

After high school, the son of Montrose residents Diane & Ed Snee earned a full scholarship to Boston College. After redshirting his first year, the Edison, NJ-born lineman evolved into a three-year starter for the Eagles and an All Big East performer before making himself eligible for the NFL Draft in January of 2004. While in college he met his wife Katie, daughter of Giants Head Coach Tom Coughlin, and together they are raising two sons, Dylan and Cooper. The 34th overall selection worked his way into a starting role for the NY Giants in his 2004 rookie season seeing action in 11 games and has started every game the past three seasons. Snee was selected as an NFC Pro Bowl alternate in 2005.

The 1st 1,500 fans through the gates on May 18th will receive a free Chris Snee Super Bowl poster. Fans are encouraged to show their allegiance to the Giants by wearing red, white & blue. In addition to honoring #76 of the New York Giants, the B-Mets will showcase the community of Montrose at the 1:05 pm game against the Double-A Tigers. It's also a Cost Cutters Kids Eat Free Family Fun Day and Senior $4 Day. Kids, 14 & under, with a paid admission will receive a free hot dog, Coke and snacks plus SpongeBob SquarePants will appear at the game.
