
Goldeyes Sign Joynt, Release Ferrante

WINNIPEG - Winnipeg Goldeyes manager Rick Forney announced today that the baseball club has signed of infielder Brian Joynt and placed outfielder Victor Ferrante on irrevocable waivers for the purpose of granting his release.
Joynt, 26, has spent this first part of the season with the Kansas City T-Bones before getting released last week. In 32 games with the T-Bones, he hit .216 with three home runs and 13 RBI. Last season with Kansas City, he batted .283 with 15 home runs and 43 RBI in 92 games. Prior to joining Kansas City, Joynt played in the San Diego Padres organization for three seasons, reaching Double-A San Antonio in the Texas League in 2009.
The Goldeyes have 22 players on their active roster, including 12 pitchers and 10 position players.
Winnipeg continues a three-game series in Sioux City tonight against the Explorers. Game time is 7 p.m. and all the action can be heard live on Sports Radio 1290, beginning with the pre-game show at 6:30 p.m.
