Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release

It all came together for the Winnipeg Goldeyes Tuesday night.

After three close losses in their last four games, the Goldeyes hammered the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 11-0 at Newman Outdoor Stadium before 3,791 fans.

The Goldeyes slowly and steadily built an 8-0 lead with a run in the first, three in the third, one in the fourth and three more in the fifth. The offensive onslaught was highlighted by Ryan Babineau's two-RBI double in the third and Brad Boyer's leadoff home run in the fifth.

It stayed that way until eighth when Winnipeg added two more runs on a Josh Mazzola single and Luis Alen fielder's choice. The Goldeyes tacked on another run in the top of the ninth.

All nine Goldeyes hitters had at least one hit and six had multi-hit games. Casey Haerther led the way with four hits, a walk and three RBI in six plate appearances. Boyer and Babineau also had two RBI.

The runs were matched by a stellar outing from starting pitcher Nick Hernandez, who pitched seven scoreless innings. He gave up five hits and struck out four. It was his ninth consecutive quality start and third consecutive win.

Newcomer Mike Noteware and Jailen Peguero pitched the final two innings to preserve the shutout.

Fargo starter Joe Harris took the loss.

The Goldeyes will return home on Friday night to open a four-game series with the first-place St. Paul Saints. Tickets for all Goldeyes home games in 2015 are available through Ticketmaster by clicking on Goldeyes.com, calling 1-855-GOLDEYE or visiting any Ticketmaster location, including the Shaw Park box office.
