Explorers Fall To Gary In Pitching Duel 1-0

The Sioux City Explorers fell to the Railcats in a pitching duel with Jeff Marquez only allowing one run in eight innings, but wound up falling to Gary SouthShore 1-0 at U.S. Steel Yard.

The Railcats scored the only run of the ball game in the second, Gary right-fielder Drew Martinez reached base on a one out hit by pitch and later scored of an RBI double by Railcats designated hitter Alex Crosby. Final score, Railcats 1, Explorers 0.

Starting pitcher for Sioux City Jeff Marquez (4-5), pitched a great ball game but was charged with his fifth loss of the season allowing only one run, on eight hits, one walk with five strikeouts in eight inning pitched. Right-hander Charle Rosario (7-3) received the win for the Railcats going eight innings without a run allowed, four hits, one walk, along with four strikeouts. Andy Loomis (s-11) got the save on the night going 1-2-3 with a strikeout to end it.
