Goers Signs PTO with Penguins

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that they have signed defenseman Barry Goers to a professional tryout agreement (PTO).

Goers returns to the Penguins for the fourth time this season, having posted nine points (2g-7a) and 12 PIM over 24 contests for Wheeling. In eight games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Goers has collected one goal, four assists and two penalty minutes.

A 27-year old, fourth-year pro from Ivyland, Pa., Goers has skated in 48 American Hockey League contests with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, Lake Erie Monsters and Penguins, collecting one goal, 12 assists and 21 PIM.

Goers played four seasons of college hockey at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell from before beginning his pro career with the Las Vegas Wranglers (ECHL). He has totaled 65 points (14g-51a) over 144 ECHL games with Wheeling and Las Vegas.

The Penguins complete their four-game home stand on Tuesday evening when they host the Hershey Bears at 7:05pm.
